April 18: Wedge Brush Watercolor Florals

We are so excited to offer an expanded meeting/workshop opportunity for our members.

Please join us Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. til 2:30.

Watercolor color artist and calligrapher Jen Sweeney will share her knowledge with our guild by teaching us all about the wedge watercolor brush! She will walk us through making her beautiful signature florals, how to use the wedge brush with our favorite walnut inks, and how to incorporate lettering into our art! Bring a lunch or piggyback on our group Chipotle order. It should be a wonderful day of learning along with a talented professional.

Creating natural inks

Exhibit at American Sign Museum

Cathy Brewer was about to sit in on a recent sign painting workshop offered at the American Sign Museum, and another will be offered in the near future. In the meantime, try to catch the current exhibit, Back to the Drawing Board. Typically headed for the trash after their usefulness has ended, sign sketches could be viewed simply as renderings for how a sign will look and function in its environment. That practical view does not do justice to the artistry and detail that signmakers put into these sketches. This exhibition will take you back to the drawing board when considering what qualifies as art through an exploration of sketches spanning 50 years and gathered from across the country. Now through June 11. https://www.americansignmuseum.org/exhibits/

The Greater Cincinnati Calligrapher’s Guild is open to anyone with an interest in the lettering arts.
